overview
Explore the scenic hills of southern Poreč, uncover ancient forts, taste world-famous prosciutto in Tinjan, and stop in vampire-legend-filled Kringa—an unforgettable ride through Istria’s history and flavors.
This interesting tour starts through hilly area of southern Poreč countryside, making its way into Istrian hinterland. The hills around Poreč have been inhabited since ancient times; some of them are still hiding prehistorical megalithic forts and shrines.
First part of the tour is spiced up with a few shorter climbs through hill top villages, which sport fantastic views of the area. Following the curvy roads, we reach Sv. Lovreč. In this historical town, you can have a great coffee break right beside its 9.th Century city walls. We continue through Kringa, which is famous as the home of only Istrian vampire Jure Grando, who was the first vampire ever mentioned in European literature. Tinjan is next on the map; the capital of Istrian prosciutto is the home of some of the best producers of this famed delicacy. The tour continues through Muntrilj and Rapavel to village Radovani, from here we start an easy descent back to Poreč.
